This pattern will be for the Alien Ears ONLY. If you are looking for a hat pattern, check out Crochet It Creations Basic Hat Crochet Pattern. It comes in 8 sizes. Although this is for a baby hat, you could attach to any size hat.
Make the Alien Ears with Medium 4 Weight Yarn and a G 4mm Crochet Hook. A G hook gives a tight crochet stitch, which is perfect because you don’t want loose ears. The tighter stitches give the ears some firmness to stand out on their own.
Baby Alien Ears Crochet Pattern
Materials Needed
- G 4mm Crochet Hook
- Medium Weight #4 Yarn
- Scissors
- Tapestry Needle
Gauge
- 1” square = 4.5 SC x 5 Rows
Stitches Used/Abbreviations (US Terms)
- SC – Single Crochet
- Sl St – Slip Stitch
- Ch – Chain
Pattern Notes
- Beginning chain DOES NOT count as a stitch.
- Ear measures approximately 4” long x 2.5” wide.
- Make a hat in any size using the Basic Hat Pattern. The photo adds 2 rows of front/back post stitches to keep from stretching out.
Row 1: Ch 2, SC in 2nd ch from hook, turn. (1)
Row 2: Ch 1, 2SC in st, turn. (2)
Row 3: Ch 1, 2SC in 1 st, SC in next, turn (3)
Row 4: Ch 1, 2SC in 1 st, SC in next 2 sts, turn (4)
Row 5: Ch 1, 2SC in 1 st, SC in next 3 sts, turn (5)
Row 6: Ch 1, 2SC in 1 st, SC in next 4 sts, turn (6)
Row 7: Ch 1, 2SC in 1 st, SC in next 5 sts, turn (7)
Row 8: Ch 1, 2SC in 1 st, SC in next 6 sts, turn (8)
Row 9: Ch 1, 2SC in 1 st, SC in next 7 sts, turn (9)
Row 10: Ch 1, 2SC in 1 st, SC in next 8 sts, turn (10)
Row 11 – 18: Ch 1, SC across, turn. (10)
Do not finish off, turn and SC up the side of the rows (placing 1 SC in each row), 2SC at the point of the ear, SC down the other side of the rows, finish off leaving a long tail for sewing on.
Fold in the top of the ear and sew on using tapestry needle.
