Once a long time ago, when I was a newby crocheter, I didn’t realize there was a simple way to change colors with crochet. I would tie off my current color then join the new color. Well, I learned from that and I am here to teach you!
There is a simple way to change colors without it being noticed. Change colors within a row or at the end of the row with this technique. You can also change colors as many times as you would like!
I used these colors below for the photos. This is one of my favorite cottons for clothing! It’s super soft and works up well. Buuut my local Michaels just got Caron Cotton Cakes and I’m super excited to try them!
How changing colors is done….
Working any stitch that you are using, complete that stitch until the last step.
Pick up the new color, leaving about a 4″ tail for weaving in. Complete the last step of the stitch with the new color. Drop the old color behind the work.
Cut the old color’s tail about 4″. Crochet OVER both tails. Leave a little bit out so that you can use a tapestry needle to secure the tail, sewing in the opposite direction.
And that is it!! You can change colors any time just by completing the last step with the new color!
Now go on and create something beautiful! Interested in the pattern in the photos?? Stay tuned. It’s going to be perfect for summer and will be released soon!
