Shark Mermaid Popsicle Holder Crochet Pattern

shark or mermaid tail popsicle holder crochet pattern

Sweet summer time is here! And if your kiddos are anything like mine, they want popsicles to cool them off. We always keep a stock of freeze pops in the freezer. But those little hands can get cold, so a popsicle holder is a necessity.

My girls love mermaids and really anything that is ocean themed. They asked for a shark AND a mermaid popsicle holder, so as always momma delivers in crocheting one.

how it’s worked

The popsicle holder is worked from the tail up. Then worked in the round at the top of the tail. It measures about 7″ with the tail (4.5″ without) and 2″ wide.

I usually buy my freeze pops from Aldi, but you can get the same sizes from Walmart, Sams, etc. They are not the giant size popsicles, but are the basic size that you get.

about the materials

I really prefer to use cotton yarn for projects like this. You can use acrylic, but cotton is very durable. Plus you can wash and reuse since they will likely get sticky. I uses Yarnspirations Lily Sugar N Cream Cotton Yarn that can be found at your local Joanns or Michaels Stores for these popsicle holders.

I’m not sure since I had partials skeins, but I’m guessing you could get about 3-4 popsicle holders out of each skein. 🙂
