I have been crocheting for many years. Actually more than 20. I was taught by my grandmother when I was a child. So, crocheting has became second nature to me.
My grand mother also taught me how to read crochet patterns as a beginner crocheter. With this knowledge, I have been able to create my own designs for years and opened this blog in 2017. Something new that I am trying to do this year is teach.
The craftyarncouncil.com has been a great resource to me for teaching. They have many yarn and crochet standards on there. I also found a easy to follow photo guide for how to make the single crochet stitch on their website. See it HERE
Below is my video tutorial for how to make the single crochet. You need yarn, any size. A crochet hook, any size but helps if it matches the yarn. If you read the yarn label it will state what size crochet hook is recommended for that yarn.
You will start off by making a slip knot. Chain a row, any amount. Video makes 12. Then begin making single crochet (SC) stitches across the chain.
Here are the steps for the single crochet stitches…. insert hook in stitch (or chain), yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through both loops on hook. And that’s it. Just repeat across.
