Mug Rug Crochet Pattern

When you have a cute new coffee mug you have to make a cute mug rug for it, right?

The Mug Rug is a cute crochet coaster pattern. Make it in Zig Zag or Stripes using the color scheme chart included. It measures about 4.5″ x 5″.

You can make the Mug Rug in any colors. Make as colorful as you like. Complete with attaching strips of yarn for fringe.

Materials Needed

• G 4mm Crochet Hook
• Medium 4 Weight Cotton Yarn – Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton! used in Dove, Coral, and Turquoise
• Scissors
• Tapestry Needle

Gauge 

• 4” square = 18 SC x 18 Rows 

Stitches Used/Abbreviations (US Terms)

• SC – Single Crochet
• Sl St – Slip Stitch
• Ch – Chain
• St(s) – Stitch(es)

Pattern Notes

• Beginning chain DOES NOT count as a stitch.
• Mug Rug measures approximately 4.5” x 5”
• Change colors according to the Zig Zag or Stripe Chart
• Change colors easily by crocheting the SC until the last step, yarn over with the new color, drop the old color and complete the last step of the SC. 

Mug Rug Pattern Instructions

Ch 22

Row 1: SC in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across, turn. (21)

Rows 2 – 20: Ch 1, SC across changing colors according to diagram, turn. (21) 

Ch 1, SC around the entire border placing 2 SC in each corner, join. Fasten off, weave in all ends. 

Cut 18 – 5” strips of each color. Attach all 3 colors to every third stitch on 2 of the ends of the border.
