Tied Cover Up Crochet Pattern

Swimsuit Beach Cover Up Free Crochet Pattern

Shew…..it is getting hot here in the Midwest! We went straight from winter to summer! This Tied Cover Up Crochet Pattern is perfect to use as a swim suit cover up! Or wear over a tank top and shorts for extra style. My daughter wore hers this weekend over shorts and a tank, she got so many compliments!

The Tied Cover Up Crochet Pattern is a simple pattern using basic crochet stitches and no sewing. The sides are tied together with a long chain of yarn. See pattern notes and chart for sizing

The yarn used in the photos is Caron Cotton Cakes by Yarnspirations. There are several different cotton yarns out there. The Caron Cotton Cakes is a cotton and acrylic blend. They are super soft and come in a variety of beautiful colors. If you do not have access to Caron Cotton Cakes, I would recommend using Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton. It is a nice, soft cotton yarn also. Not all cotton yarns feel the same, so keep that in mind.

Pattern Notes for ADULT SIZES

  1. Pattern is written in U.S. Crochet Terms
  2. Beginning chain(s) of the row DOES NOT count as a stitch.
  3. Pattern measures about 60” long and will be worn folded in half. If you need to add length, 15 st = 4” per gauge. Add stitches to beginning foundation row.
  4. Pattern instructions are for size large and measure approx 21” wide. It will have ties up the sides, which can provide extra inches of coverage.
  5. You can figure out your size by measuring the largest part of your torso, loosely. Divide that number by 2, rounding up.
    1. Take that number divide by 11 (amt of rows for gauge).
    2. Take the answer and divide by 4 (inches of gauge).
    3. That will give you the answer of total rows that you need. Or use table below.
  6. Since the pattern is made in long vertical rows with a neck hole, take the number of rows that you need and divide in half. (ex. of xs – 43 divided by 2 = 21.5) Work 21 rows of the pattern. Row 22 will be your neck hole row, then work the remaining rows of that size until you get to 43.
  7. Use stitch markers to help with counting stitches and rows. Also to line the front and back up while you lace up the sides when finished with the body.
  8. Steam block to relax the stitches and garment when finished to even out the rows.

  6. What size do they instructions make?

  7. Hey, I love this pattern and hope to start it really soon. I wanted to ask you if I wanted to make it longer because I’m on the taller side (5’10), on the neck row, what number of stitches do I stitch up too?

    1. It’s about 60″ with the 225 stitches, you can increase the amount of stitches for the beginning row to however long you prefer since it is made in vertical rows.
